The chain holding the hood in place is stretched across her throat like a cruel necklace.

I doubt that any sadist in his right mind would have tightened a hood with a chain in that place. Have seen real leather and latex hoods, and I know people who use them, and they never have a chain under the chin that could slide down against the throat under any circumstances - unless the hood is merely decorative. The reason is, it would create an obvious sneaky danger of cuttting off air in the windpipes or affecting blood vessels in the throat.
The hood Miss Felina is wearing is, no doubt, tightened by a zip and a buckled, padlocked strap at the back of her head. Let's not inflict restraints that will make all continued struggle impossible or a threat to her life, please?

Apologies - I think I failed to picture how the hood was chained closed properly. I didn't mean to imply that I was deliberately restricting breathing, only that Felina's head was tilted back now, so the front of her neck is visible to the audience. I would remove that line from my post if I could figure out how!
